About the Role
The Director of Technology will provide leadership in setting the IT vision for HKIS and determining the goals
and objectives required to realize that vision. The Director will oversee both short and long-range planning to support HKIS in creating and maintaining an IT environment that is responsive to the school’s instructional and
operational needs and appropriate in scale.
The Director of Technology reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is supported by a team of 24 employees
including six direct reports; the Data Services Manager, Infrastructure Services Manager, Client Services Manager, Systems Project Manager, Security Engineer, and an IT Office Coordinator.

Requirements
Education
Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and/or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Additional degrees and/or certification in educational leadership a plus.
Experience
10+ years in a leadership role with responsibility for the overall ICT systems of a medium to large
organization.
10+ years leading technology planning efforts including activities to develop, implement, and evaluate ICT
system plans and initiatives.
10+ years leading a team of 15+ colleagues with accountability for annual goals and objectives.
Major change management experience using a collaborative process and driving initiatives to a successful
conclusion within timeline and on budget.
Experience formulating departmental policies and procedures.
Experience with designing and securing ICT systems.
Demonstrated competence in leading diverse teams/committees on special projects and/or initiatives.
Experience working with and contributing to senior leadership discussions to help inform decisions.
Experience working in an educational setting preferred, including understanding of K-12 applications (e.g.,
PowerSchool, Schoology, Atlas Rubicon).
